Create a Post

Introduction

In order to create and submit a post you must first log in to the FHSC web site. If you haven’t already registered, you can select Register on the login dialog and complete the registration form. After which you will receive an email when your registration is approved.

To create a post, select Submit Post or My Posts from the menu. The Submit Post is the simplest way to create a post. The My Posts also allows you to create (or edit) a post. It is more complex but supports a richer set of features. In this article we are going to describe how to use the Submit Post method. The My Posts method is exactly the same as the WordPress backend Posts so anyone who is WordPress fluent will know how to use My Posts and the blocks mode editor.

Create a New Post

Click on the Submit Post menu entry and enter a title for the post as shown here.

Enter Text

Now enter your text. The sequence in which you enter text and images or tables etc. is completely up to you. Feel free to select portions of text and apply effects like bold or a different font. Break it up into paragraphs where it makes sense.

Insert Photo from Media

There are many photos on the website that can insert to your post.  To do this click on the Add Media button which will take you to the media library where you can choose a photo.  Select  a photo and click on the Insert into page button and you will be taken back to editing your new post.

The photo you chose will be inserted at the point where the text cursor (caret) was left. You can simply drag it another place, even in the middle of text.  Here the photo is shown dragged to the start of the post.

But you may feel it looks better with text wrapped around. You can click the photo to select it and this displays a little toolbar which includes justify left, center and right.  Here it is shown justified to the right.

Insert an Uploaded Photo

You can upload and insert your own photo by clicking on the Add Media button and then selecting Upload Files instead of using photos from the default Media Library.  Note that you can upload multiple photos at one time here and then insert them one at a time wherever you want them to appear.

You now see the post includes a photo from the Media Library and another that was uploaded.

Upload Featured Image

Click on the Choose File to select and upload a photo on your computer that you want to be featured image of the post.

Finish Up

Now click on the Submit Post button to upload the new post. If you created your post using Submit Post then you must wait for the webmaster to check the post and publish it. Or you can use My Posts to change the status to Published in the Quick Edit of your post.

If you created your post using My Posts then you can change the status to published right there. Or leave it as pending until you have finished further edits.

You can see the result of the example that was posted here as Created Post
