Create an Album Link Post

Introduction

If you have an album of photos/videos on a cloud site (like Goggle Photos) and you would like to share it, then a straightforward way to do this is to create a blog post containing a link to your album. Much easier than uploading the same photos to the FHSC web site and you can still make changes to your album after you post because the link remains the same.

Create a New Post

In order to create and submit a post you must first log in to the FHSC web site. If you haven’t already registered, you can select Register on the login dialog and complete the registration form. After which you will receive an email when your registration is approved.

To create a post, select Submit Post or My Posts from the menu. The Submit Post is the simplest way to create a post. The My Posts also allows you to create (or edit) a post. It is more complex but supports a richer set of features.

You can then build the album link post as you wish but the minimum should be a quick description of the album.

Capture the Album Link

Share Icon

Using Google Photos as an example, here is how to get the link to one of your albums.

  • login to your Google Photos
  • select an album
  • click on the share icon
  • in the invite to album dialog click on the Copy link icon

Add the Link

Again, you can make this look as you wish but it looks much cleaner if you have a brief text string that is the album name. For example: Round the County 2022. Then select that text and:

  • Submit Post click on the insert/edit link button in the toolbar
  • My Posts click on the Link button in the block toolbar

and paste in the full link that you captured from Google Photos. Note that if you are creating a YouTube link then might want to trigger the video in full screen and auto start. Set full screen with watch_popup. Set auto start with the parameter autoplay=1. See this post for an example of the video link, in Round the County 2022 Video where the link is:

Finish Up

Once you are happy with your post you need to publish the post. If you created your post using My Posts then you must wait for the webmaster to check the post and publish it. Or you can use My Posts to change the status in the Quick Edit of your post.

If you created your post using My Posts then you can change the status to published right there. Or leave it as pending until you have finished further edits.
